PASIFIKA MEDICAL ASSOCIATIONMEMBERSHIP |
PACMAT, or the Pasifika Medical Association Medical Assistance Team, is a multidisciplinary team of Pacific medical professionals ready and able to assist international medical institutions in the event of a sudden onset disaster or disease outbreak.
Our medical professionals are highly skilled and experienced in providing support in emergency response situations in the Pacific. Our team of medical professionals includes experts from a range of disciplines: emergency medicine, primary care, paediatrics, surgery, anaesthetics, public health, and mental health.
PACMAT members are focused on providing additional human resources (a surge workforce) to support a local health system in the event of SOD or disease outbreak.
The key focus areas for PACMAT include primary health care clinicians, and mental health clinicians providing psychosocial support. PACMAT will respond to request for assistance from within New Zealand and from the following Pacific Island countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.
